Start Here: A Guide to Baphomithras

About me:

My name is Dorijan Nuaj, born in 1971 in the Balkans. I hold a Master’s degree in Sociology and have been a long-time practitioner and theorist of the occult. On this blog, I present my research, experiences, thoughts, and ideas regarding esotericism, religion, mythology, mysticism, occultism, and history.

Consequently, this blog is not intended for a general audience or for those comfortable with mediocrity; rather, it is meant for individuals who have already substantially shaped their own understanding, knowledge, and experience of the esoteric and spiritual realms. I primarily express personal opinions and stances on the topics I cover. Keep in mind, therefore, that I am not objective—I am deeply subjective. However, I consider this the most effective way to convey my insights, as they are refined through the filter of personal experience.

If you have an intriguing proposal or idea, feel free to reach out to me at bafomitras@gmail.com. I do not respond to vague messages or ambiguous inquiries.

A Note on Perspective

I would also like to emphasize that some people find my personality challenging because I do not possess rigid or unyielding beliefs, a fixed identity, or static viewpoints. In my nature, much is fluid, existing in nuances and persistent ambiguities. I appear indeterminate to those who hold rigid, one-sided worldviews. One might get the impression that I constantly shift sides, commitments, and perspectives.

In truth, within my perception and approach, certain core elements remain consistent; yet even these are not sharply defined—they seem to emerge from misty edges. My personality is not a solid structure, but rather akin to a sand dune: ever-shifting, elusive, yet undeniably present. It has dimensions, it has mass—sometimes hollow, sometimes filled to capacity...

Cultural and Historical Context of Modern Occult Tarot
This post rejects the Egyptian and Atlantean myths and returns the cards to their true setting: the allegorical processions and Mystery Plays of medieval Europe, the Trionfi of Petrarch, the mnemonic disciplines of the Renaissance, and the organic, hierarchical cosmos of Hermeticism and Neoplatonism. It then traces how that world was lost, and how eighteenth- and nineteenth-century occultists filled the void with Egyptomania and Kabbalistic correspondences. Essential reading if you want to understand what the Tarot was before it became "occult."
